Winter Trout Seasons are Here!
No tall grass, no ticks, no stinging nettles, no mosquitos, no biting flies, and no crowds, as well as cold clear water with some dry fly action! Seriously, what are you waiting for! Our rule is that we don't go if its colder than 28 degrees, and there are plenty of days in the winter that are over 28 degrees. As long as you dress properly under your waders and keep moving around a bit while you are out there you can stay plenty warm. Maybe some jumping jacks here and there to keep the blood flowing and you are good to go! It is definitely the prettiest time of year to fish on our local trout streams. A couple of zebra midges below an indicator is all you need. Midges hatch all winter as well and if there is a hatch happening you can catch trout on little midge patterns in the middle of January! Dry flies in January? YEP YEP YEP GET OUT THERE THIS WINTER
