Below Zero

Last year around this time I wandered over to the Kinnickinnic River in Wisconsin to do a little exploring. It was -10 below zero when I left Saint Paul that morning, and I was really just curious what the Kinni looked like when the temps were so cold out. When I arrived at the Kinni, it was a balmy -6 degrees, I put on all my warm gear, threw my camera in its case and began walking downstream. I spent a couple hours wandering around and stayed plenty warm. Rivers are beautiful in the winter, and sometimes it is just as fun to take your camera for a walk on the river as it is to take your fly rod. Below are a couple of my favorite images from that day. I did see some trout moving around in a few of the pools that day as well.
